At Svetosavska Street 19 stands a house which, judging by the year carved into its main beam, dates from 1843. It is practically the only surviving example of traditional local architecture. In almost 180 years only minor alterations have been made, so its appearance and purpose have essentially remained the same. It is a typical Pannonian house with three rooms. The interior furnishings date from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and most of the ethnographic objects in the house were donated.
In 1986 the house was given its present role and became an important cultural monument of the town. The Cultural Centre (Dom kulture) works to make it not only a monument but also a place where young people gather for various workshops during the summer holidays, and where tourists and visitors can take a break and enjoy a pleasant time in a traditional setting.
In its current form, dominated by blue and white, it stands out slightly from other traditional houses in Topola. On the one hand we strive to host as varied a programme as possible, and on the other to secure as much funding as possible for the continuous restoration of the Local Heritage House.
The house is open to visitors from spring to autumn; visits are possible all year round by appointment.
