Novo Orahovo

Novo Orahovo lies 12 km east of Bačka Topola. The village began to develop in 1946, when Rusyn families arrived from Ruski Krstur. A large part of the population is still Rusyn, and they preserve and nurture their culture and customs through the Petro Kuzmjak cultural and arts society.

Novo Orahovo also has sports grounds and an open-air stage, and offers sport fishing on the Čik stream as well as hunting. The hunting lodge is run by the local hunting association.

Local Heritage House – Novo Orahovo

In its architectural style it recalls the typical 19th-century building style of Vojvodina and Bačka. Built at the end of the 19th century, it is a three-part family house with a sun-facing façade and an old stove fired from outside.
The house faithfully represents the past and the ethnic identity of the village. During renovation the traditional hallway, kitchen and “clean room” were restored, and they can be seen by anyone visiting the village. The rooms display old furniture, tools and household objects.
During the building works a community room for up to 35 people, toilets, a kitchenette and a large covered barn-terrace housing a traditional oven, stove and hearth were added.
