Gunaros

Gunaroš lies 16 km south-east of Bačka Topola. The first farmsteads (salaši) appeared in the second half of the 19th century. In this typical rural setting most people work in agriculture.
Not far from Gunaroš is the artificial Lake Svetićevo, ideal for day-trippers and anglers. On the lakeshore stands the former Engelmann mansion, now abandoned and in rather poor condition. It was built by the Engelmann family in the early 20th century; the family also founded the nearby village of Pobeda. Close by is the village of Kavilo, home of the Salašar Theatre (Salašarsko pozorište). Every summer the theatre prepares and premieres a new play here, and then tours smaller towns and villages in Vojvodina.
