The village of Kavilo is home to the Vojvodina Salašar Theatre (Salašarsko pozorište). Its building complex, founded a few years ago, gave an institutional framework to an occasional travelling theatre troupe that is unique in our country and in Europe. Since its founding in 1978, the Salašar Theatre has prepared and premiered a new play here every summer; the troupe then goes on tour across Vojvodina and to smaller places, bringing theatre to thousands of people, above all in communities without a “stone” theatre of their own.
