About Backa Topola

The municipality of Backa Topola is located in the northern part of Backa. The town of Backa Topola is the economic, political and cultural center of the municipality of the same name. More than 20 nations live together in the valley of the Krivaja stream and on the hills of the Backa loess plain, on an area of 596 km2. Backa Topola has always been a transit point through which Corridor 10 and the international railway line Budapest – Belgrade pass. According to the 2011 census, the municipality had 34,088 inhabitants living in 23 settlements, and the city itself had 14,991 inhabitants.

Four languages are in use in the municipality: Serbian, Hungarian, Ruthenian and Slovak.

The municipality of Backa Topola offers interesting contents primarily to transit tourists, but also to those who want to stay a little longer.
