Nikola Beko was born in Feketić, grew up at Salaš 198 in Lovćenac, 5 km from the village and school. Since his childhood, he dreamed of his own farm and he managed to fulfill that wish in 1993 on St. John’s day, becoming the owner of the house that was built in 1893.
He refined the ambience of the centenarian beauty from 1993-1995. It has been open to visitors since 1995 until today. The society for nurturing cultural and historical values “Beniksal” was registered with the Ministry of Culture. He organizes art meetings, literary and poetry evenings. Benixal has a rich mix of artistic paintings, an ethnic atmosphere, with many authentic objects, souvenirs from Tito’s Blue Train, chronicles of people from the cultural milieu who stayed in the Bačka Topola municipality.
The house was inhabited by: Sava Stojkov, Matija Bećković, Pero Zubac, Duško Trifunović, Mira Banjac, all actors from the domestic series Happy People, Better Life, Family Treasure, Branka Šćepanović, Nikola Simić, Ružica Sokić, Predrag Ejdus, Milorad Pavić, Tanja Bošković, band Zabranjeno fušenje, Garavi street, Zvonko Bogdan.
