Windmill

In the territory of Bačka Topola at the end of the 19th century, four windmills were in operation, but only one remains to this day. The Bačka Topola windmill belongs to the family of typical Vojvodina windmills with four floors.

In the mid-19th century, as many as three windmills were operational in Bačka Topola. They were used for grinding grain and corn until as late as 1969. This characteristic, so-called “potiska” windmill was relocated from its original location (the fairground) to its current location on the shore of the lake twenty years ago. The windmill is located next to Zobnatica Lake, 1 km from the town towards Subotica. Since 1987, it has been functioning as a museum and monument to the milling industry. Currently, it is closed to visitors.
